Upload Pie

Added on December 6th, 2009

While I was writing a blog post about how Upload Pie has served more than one thousand files already I realised that I hadn’t even done a single post about Upload Pie yet. So what is Upload Pie? Upload Pie is a simple to use image and text file hosting service. But it comes with a twist, when uploading a file you pick when it expires. Expiring in this case means that it gets deleted from the server without leaving any traces.

Now that I’ve done a proper introduction of Upload Pie we can talk more about its future. Personally there are three things I’d like to change about it. Clean up the HTML/CSS, change the upload form controls to something that will look the same across all browsers and platforms, and finally I’ve been thinking about adding a way to upload multiple files at once (a zip file for example which holds all the files you want to upload).

What about you? Most of you have at one point or another used an online image hosting service. What have you liked about them, and what not? Do you think there’s anything that should be changed about Upload Pie? Would you like more files to be supported by it?

I would like Upload Pie to have a preview part after you upload a file, whether it’s a picture or a text file, so you can instantly see that you uploaded the right file. Just a small thumbnail to see you uploaded the correct picture or a simple text-area with the text file contents.
