Skyland is an interesting show that I’ve been watching on and off for the last two days now. It’s a show from Nicktoons, yes that children channel, but anyway, that’s not the reason why I find it interesting. The story is set 200 years in the future, the Earth has shattered into many small-ish but habitable blocks of land. Which is ruled by Sphere, a corrupt government hell bent on squashing the last remaining free people.
Enter the rebellion, a brave team of adventurers who will one day win the fight against the Sphere, and there’s also a prophecy of a White Lady who will become the most powerful seijin(think of them as Jedis, or magicians if you will) ever. So far nothing too exciting really, kinda standard plot.

The cool thing about it though is the 3D-ness of it. And for most parts its actually done quite well for a series that is. A lot of great backgrounds as well, so it looks quite great, and that’s basically the one thing that keeps me watching it right now. Things that distract me from the otherwise good quality show are, the fact that the dialogue is very clumsy and sounds like it was translated from Japanese to French, and then to English and the lifeless facial and to some degree body animation. But other than that it’s quite enjoyable.
