Yes I know it’s a 2006 movie, and we already have 2007, but I always get around to watching or playing things later than most people. And in some ways I think it’s better this way, because I’m not as much affected by all the hype that surrounds these things when they come out.

Casino Royale is the 21st James Bond movie, it’s based on the Casino Royale novel by Ian Fleming that was written back in 1953. It is also has a new actor for James Bond, Daniel Crag. And while there was a lot of talk about him, and how he is nothing at all like James Bond, or even how much a weakling he is, I think he did a great job of resetting the James Bond movies. Just like Pierce Brosnan did with GoldenEye. Not to mention that Casino Royale was also directed by Martin Campbell who was the director of GoldenEye.
And what a great reset this is to the James Bond movies. In Casino Royale James Bond has just become an MI6 agent with a license to kill. It’s also important to note that Casino Royale is a reboot of the whole James Bond series, so this movie actually doesn’t precede Dr. No or any other movies. Instead, it’s a whole new timeline, and that’s what had me confused at the beginning, but now it all makes sense.

The new Bond is a lot more brutal, a lot more reckless, likes dirty jokes, and has less class and style than Brosnan’s Bond. Not to mention the fact that Brosnan looks a lot better in a suit than Craig ever will. Having said that, it works really well in the story, Bond is still a raw diamond, just at the beginning of his career. Lots of action in this lengthy movie as well, action and humour, and everything that makes James Bond a Bond, cars, gadgets and women.
So for those of you who still haven’t seen it yet, the DVD should be out in a month, or if you live in some weird country, like I do, that gets the movies later than the rest of the world, you should check if it’s still on in the cinemas.

Welcome to 2006, us 2007ers will just continue on :P j/king
I loved it and the initial music video that I showed on me blog back when I roughly started it is also very cool. Visually it looks nice I thought. And plenty of great lines in the movie.

Sincerely, I did not like this film at all! I saw this film last week and it is hard to believe that people liked it.
For my personal view, I think they killed James Bond for ever in this film. It may be considered a very good film if you are able to forget that he is performing James Bond……..This film can be anything…..less James Bond´s film…..!!! Usually, James Bond ´s film brings strong women who fight for their spies jobs too. This film brings a very weak girl who cries because she saw somebody dies in front of her. Please, Bond Girl, choose another profession to work with!!!

That may very well be so, but you must really take into account that this takes place shortly after he becomes an 007. Even M says that she might have promoted him too early, because of his mannerisms and the way he does things.
As for Bond women, you can’t really blame her either, she isn’t a spy, she works for a bank. Now if she were a spy agent, then yeah it wouldn’t look too good to cry over some dead gangsters, but she was a banker.
