Don’t Get Any Funny Ideas!

Added on January 1st, 2007

Been thinking the last few days about buying certain things. Certain quite expensive things at it. Most notably an Apple macbook. Not a new one, or even the Pro one. Just a refurbished macbook, which would still set me back almost thousand euros. Coming up with all the reasons to justify it right now, I suppose it would be great for the train rides, and generally Mac OS X would be nice to have as well for webpage testing, seeing that I’m a web developer.

Apple MacBook

The other thing that I have been thinking about is an MP3 player. I do have a semi functioning SD MP3 player, which is quite nice I suppose but has some major drawbacks, mostly the fact that it runs on an AAA battery and that it only supports upto 1GB SD cards. So at best I can get it play for a few hours.

No idea what model, or even company I’d go with for the MP3 player. But it wouldn’t be Apple iPod, which in my opinion is overpriced player with less features than other company players. So I was wondering what players you all had and why you picked them. Looking for some ideas on what I could get myself at some near point in the future. Granted of course if I do get the MacBook then the player will have to wait a little, but it would still be nice to know what models and companies were/are good.

Oi you stole my plans :P

Though I really can’t justify buying myself the MacBook :( Yes I’m a designer, yes I should own a Mac instead of only using one at work, but don’t know when I’d actually need to use it!

As for MP3 players, I already showed you the Creative one I just ordered with my bonus money I think, but my reasons for it are pretty simple: Very small, not ridiculously scratch prone glossy plastic, 8gig (double my current one), can view album cover art (not a priority to me, but nice I guess) and radio, and voice recording too I think. Same price as the Apple Nano equivalent with quite a few more functions. Reason for buying a Creative… Sony never seemed that cheap, not that I’d want a Sony one, and that leaves Creative, and my last/current one I’ve never had any problems with, happily acts as a little external drive, quite decent battery life, good sound, solid little thing.

Though on checking the Sony 8gig seems to be lower in price though, but not sure what sort of quality or durability you get out of those.

Plus you could just get your macbook and use it as a really big video ipod ;)

And I got some funny ideas after that now :( :P

Do we want to know? :P

mobile pron?

You know I want a macbook of the same sort of region. But it’s all a question of priorities right now, I use a discontinued MP3 player, 20gb, £100, black and white screen, nothing fancy…lasted 3 years. better than the horrible ipods…I’ve known people to go through 4 of those a year.

I’d suggest getting as big a storage as you can, the thing I love about my current one is uploading the music, and never having to take anything off. Creative are a good company.
