Napoleon Dynamite, Super Mario Bros, and ID10T

Added on November 14th, 2006

As of recent I have acquired a bad habit of shopping on Mondays, partly because Mondays are my longest days, and partly because it’s the only day I can go out and buy something without having to worry that I’ll miss my train.

Napoleon Dynamite DVD

To this week’s goodies, lets start with Napoleon Dynamite. Yes, yes, I’ll admit that I have only seen it now, but I have my reasons, for one, I wasn’t able to catch it on in cinemas(I live in Austria) in English, and secondly it only now has come out on DVD here. Great movie, loved every bit of it, though my favorite bit has got to be where uncle Rico throws the steak at Napoleon.

New Super Mario Bros.

Next up, New Super Mario Bros. for Nintendo DS. I needed a new game for my DS so that I wouldn’t be so bored on the train, and it’s the best I could find. Don’t get me wrong it’s a good game, but I would have liked something that has a story, or something that’s mindless fun ala Mario Kart. But alas couldn’t find anything, oh and for those of you out there who have a DS I would love to hear from you what games you have enjoyed and why. I want to find a game that justifies having a DS, so far I have Animal Crossings(was for for the first few weeks), GTA for GBA, and Mario Bros.

Avixe MP3 Player: i-Rock Cube

Avixe i-Rock Cube. Call me cheap or whatever you want, but this is exactly what I was looking for just a few months back now already, but only now decided to buy one. It’s an SD/MMC card mp3 player, and it doubles as a card reader as well, something that I still don’t have at home, but now do. Oh yeah and it has FM radio option as well. The only thing that I don’t like about it is that it uses AAA batteries. Which brings me to my ID10T error, I went out today and picked up some rechargeable batteries for the player, because getting a new AAA battery for every 7 hours of playback is just nuts.

So I come back to work, and pop the battery in, thinking lets hear how it sounds. I switch the player one, and it scans the files successfully, but then out of nowhere “lobat” appears on the LCD screen. And I’m sitting there scratching my head, trying to think what “lobat” is. After about switching the player on and off about 20 times, and swearing at it, it finally came to me. It’s rechargeable batteries, they need to be charged first. ID10T!
